Well there’s entropy and there’s entropy.

DISCLAIMER (of doom): This page is still under heavy construction. I had this grand idea of what I wanted to write here but in the process of actually putting the theme and plugins together as well as the constant upgrading and whatnot I’ve forgotten the seriously 1337 way I wanted to phrase things.

Platform and theme

Entropy uses the WordPress publishing platform and the amazingly clean and versatile dfBlog theme by Daniel Fajardo. Some modifications were made to the theme the most noteworthy of which is the hacking in of the accordion (called Sliding Door by the author) menu from the Sliding Door theme by Wayne Connor from MacHost.

To Do

A list of development tasks for Entropy.

• Atom/RSS feed plugin that creates posts in defined categories and allows some way to link back to the original source. FeedWordPress seems to do most of this. Modify/contribute?
• Upgrade WordPress to 2.8.1; and
• ensure FeedWordPress MagpieRSS upgrades are installed.
• Conditional widgets – certain links in certain categories.
• Wish lists, and “now playing/reading” lists (link with Facebook?) – games, books, movies, computer hardware, gadgetry. Should I just use link categories and conditional widgets for this?
• List of recent posts per category in main content area (not sidebar). Ideally use/write a widget that can be used in a horizontal widget area. Perhaps modify accordion menu to allow overlays? This leads into…
• Widgetise accordion menu.
• Consider changing the default paragraph typesetting to fully justified text by default.
• Find a plugin that adds Creative Commons licenses to all posts/articles. Ideally a plugin that can handle per-post licensing would be great but how possible would that be without mucking with the post’s metadata?
• IE6 compatibility: Fix image dimensions to match theme (i.e. Far Cry 2 article)
• Clean up custom post metadata required by previous theme.
• Feed/syndication icon for category RSS.
• dfBlog doesn’t seem to generate automatic excerpts – it publishes a whole article on the front page. Fix?
• New AOWL page.
• Using Entropy/WordPress user HowTo covering topics like Gravatar and the syndication of feeds from Hellforge.
• Write-up on plugins used in Entropy (i.e. how Entropy works and is put together) – About page?
• Credit stock artists
• New banner image (or a more usable version of the current one)
• “Home” button image
• Proper syndication/subscribe to feed button (image)
• Create decent maintenance page
• Check dfBlog’s h2 and h3 tags inside entry-class divs (font-size tag in CSS increases font sizes across the board)
• Modify “Comments Off” text placement
• Register Entropy with Amatomu
• Add Afrigator tracking code to theme
• Compatible/tested browser image-links in theme, as well as AnyBrowser campaign support
